How To Use Pinterest For Event Planning

Planning an event takes a lot of time out of a day; looking at several catalogs, going to different stores; they can all start to blur together. Even for those who take meticulous notes, add pictures, can’t be expect to keep everything straight. Pretty soon that small little idea book become several idea books with no end in sight.

Luckily, there is Pinterest; a two-year-old social media-bookmarking site that can be used instead of planners or idea books to keep ideas and information all in one place. This site is so big there is a waiting list to sign up for it. There is a way to get past waiting list, if an interested party happens to know someone with an active account than they can send a request.

What is Pinterest?

Think of Pinterest as a big bulletin board for ideas. Instead of tearing pages out of magazines, the person will go to the Pinterest website for clothing, find an article they like, and add it to their Pinterest page. The user can also get images not on the Pinterest website by using the bookmarket feature on Google Chrome browser. Once the Pinterest tool is installed in the browser, the consumer can "Pin" any image from the web they like and add it to their account.

After signing up for Pinterest, create boards for ideas. The customer can have a basic board for things for example, planning a wedding; they could have just one board for the dress, the cake, and venue. Another option is to get very anal about planning a wedding and have several boards for everything such as shoes, and put up several kinds of shoes, designers, and colors. Have another for invitations, one for cakes. Not only does Pinterest save the picture of the object the user likes, but also there’s a link if they wish to buy it.

How to "Pin"

To do this, the user logs into their account and uses the "Pin it" icon, and then pins it onto their board for later use, or insiration for ideas. Going back to the example of shoes, while browsing in the Pinterest website for shoes for the wedding, the user spots a pair they like and so they use the "pin it" icon in their account and then add it to the board titled "shoes."

This wonderful site can make planning any event a breeze, just click, "Pin it" and it will be stored for later use.
