Ioan Aurel Muresan (b. in 1956 in Transylvania) is a highly skilful Romanian artist and a PhD Professor of the University of Art and Design from Cluj Napoca (Painting Department); a central figure of Romanian painting in the ’80s, Ioan Aurel Muresan has been working in all classical techniques of the medium and, has been experimenting on various surfaces, from canvas to plastic and from linen to table cloth.

Passionately working between the figurative and abstract representation and, subjective to a rather literature or lyrical oriented approach, Ioan Aurel Muresan is a key figure in the history of Eastern-European art, by being one of the very few fearless artists excelling in color approach, in a way reminding of the Fauvism or the totemic Ion Tuculescu.

The Secret Passages of Ioan Muresan solo show, especially conceived for Zorzini Gallery and comprising only new paintings by the artist, represents an introductory phase to long term collaboration between the gallery based in Bucharest and the Cluj School Professor.
