Stefan Sagmeister as Keynote speaker at Golden Drum; Speaker line-up announced

Stefan Sagmeister, world famous designer who designed albums for numerous USA musicians like The Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, Aerosmith, David Byrne and the Guggenheim Museum and TV network HBO is coming this October to 20th Golden Drum International Advertising Festival, organized in Portorož, Slovenia, by the Slovenian Advertising Chamber.

20th Golden Drum International Advertising Festival, 9-11 October, Portorose, Slovenia, has just announced the first speaker line-up. Stefan Sagmeister, world class designer from New York based design firm Sagmeister & Walsh, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at this year’s 20th anniversary of the Golden Drum Festival. The list of renowned speakers grows every day, and so far Donald Gunn, Folker Wrage, Rogier Croes, Mikhail Elagin, Ravid Kuperberg and Christian Mix-Linzer have been confirmed to take the Golden Drum stage in October.

Stefan Sagmeister, Sagmeister & Walsh, NY, USA

Stefan is a New York-based typographer and graphic designer, who, together with Jessica Walsh, owns a design firm Sagmeister & Walsh. He has designed album covers for Lou Reed, OK Go, The Rolling Stones, David Byrne, Aerosmith and Pat Metheny and designed for clients such as the HBO and the Guggenheim Museum. He earned practically every important international design award, along with two Grammies for the Talking Heads and Brian Eno & David Byrne package designs. His motto "Design that needed guts from the creator and still carries the ghost of these guts in the final execution." will be put to the test as his speech will be most certainly be one of the most anticipated ones at Golden Drum this October in Portorose, Slovenia. A native of Austria, he received his MFA from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and, as a Fulbright Scholar, a master’s degree from Pratt Institute in New York. After his studies he worked as a creative director for Leo Burnett in Hong Kong and for M&Co. in New York.
