Stefan Iordache in the jury

The 15th Golden Drum and Media Meeting will take place from the 5th to the 10th of October this year and spoil attendees for choice and novelty. This time we present you two creative briefs worth 5,000 Euros each in the Piran Portorož Advertising Award category, the four agency Creative Academy (what has Publicis prepared?), a free and intriguing Prologue as well as the very relevant jury members for all categories. 5.000 Euros for a new Identity of Piran
The city of Piran will be home to the new Mediterranean University, covering the entire Mediterranean region. Piran is no longer just a historical or tourist city; soon it will be a centre of learning – a university town.
The Municipality of Piran has prepared an award for the best poster ideas to promote the University City of Piran and its Mediterranean University. The author of the best poster will receive 5,000 Euros from the Municipality of Piran, two full registrations for the Golden Drum and accommodation for two persons for five nights from the Piran Portorož Tourist Board. The authors of the second and third ranked posters will each receive two full registrations for the Golden Drum and accommodation for two persons for five nights from the Piran Portorož Tourist Board.

Do you feel Slovenia?
Golden Drum and STO – Slovenian Tourist Board will award 5.000 EUR for the best, the most attractive and the most persuasive poster promoting Slovenia with her official slogan: I FEEL SLOVENIA

Creative Academy
The Creative Academy will be slightly different this year. Four large advertising networks: McCann WorldGroup, Publicis Group, Grey Group and TBWA Networks will present their thoughts and insights into key topics on the Golden Drum stage.

Publicis Group – "Is there life after death?"
There have never been as many pessimistic forecasts as there are today: the death of mass media, the death of print and even of TV, the death of classical advertising, the death of the consumer society, the death of prosperity and the decline of the social state… However, the establishment of the new doesn’t necessarily imply the destruction of the old, nor simply a changed relation between the two. The new never starts from nothing, from the absolute beginning, but as a rule is more or less integrated with much of the preceding.
Which elements from the golden age of advertising will survive the digital era? What will advertising in the 21st century look like? How will new media and new communication processes change the standard advertising paradigm? Should senior stars just pack their suitcases and leave their well-paid jobs to 25-year-olds or can they remain useful and successful even in this new era?
This will be a debate among Richard Pinder (Chief Operating Officer of Publicis Worldwide), Bob Moore (Chief Creative Officer, Publicis USA), Paul Kemp-Robertson (Editor of Contagious Magazine) and Paul Marsden, Ph.D. (Freelance Market Researcher). The round table will be moderated by Carter Murray.

Prologue 2008
The Golden Drum Festival isn’t just for experienced creatives with big awards, but also those who are just starting and all those who are simply interested in advertising. Because the registration fee can be an obstacle for them, this year will be the second time we organize a special Sunday Afternoon program, on the 5th of October 2008, titled “Back to the Future”. Entry to this program is free of charge, but the content will be real, relevant and interactive.
The theme of the presentations will be “My Creative Relationship with the Brand”, which represents the core of marketing. Besides famous names and branding experts, the stage will also be open to a select group of writers with the best blogs on the theme of the prologue. For this purpose we will soon be starting a separate website, prolog.goldendrum.com! You’re welcome to visit, take part and if you write something especially thought-provoking or original (chosen by the jury) you can win a free entry to the entire festival!
