· Overall retail sales jump 74 percent to 5,648 units, led by continued strength in demand for the popular Ford Fiesta, all-new Ford Ranger, all-new Ford Focus
· Company remains on track to expand authorized Ford dealer network to 140 nationwide by end of the year

Following record December month and full-year sales performances, Ford Thailand carried its momentum forward to start the year as strong demand across the Ford lineup helped deliver the company’s best-ever January sales performance.

For the month, overall retail sales surged 74 percent year-over-year to 5,648 units, with the popular Ford Fiesta, all-new Ford Ranger, all-new Ford Focus, and Ford Everest and Ford Escape SUVs all recording year-over-year gains.

“We have a tremendous amount of confidence in our One Ford plan and product-led transformation, which is continuing to attract many new-to-Ford customers,” said Yukontorn ‘Vickie’ Wisadkosin, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford Thailand.

“There is certainly a strong understanding in the market now that we are introducing segment-leading vehicles, and we intend to continue building on this throughout the year,” she added.

The class-leading Ford Fiesta – which retained its place as Ford’s best-selling nameplate in 2012 – continued to lead the way in January with retail sales rising 29 percent year-over-year to 2,801 units.

With its unmistakable sporty design, class-leading fuel efficiency, unmatched safety package, and smart technologies, the Fiesta continues to have wide appeal among young and trendy Thais who appreciate value for money.

The class-defining all-new Ranger continued to demonstrate its strong appeal as the most versatile pickup truck in the market, with retail sales climbing 181 percent year-over-year to 2,059 units.

“The all-new Ranger has really set a new benchmark in performance, quality, capability, fuel efficiency and comfort, which is helping drive extraordinary demand,” explained Yukontorn.

Demand for the technology packed all-new Ford Focus remained strong in January, with retail sales jumping 151 percent to 667 units. The all-new Focus significantly raises the bar in the compact segment.

“This completely redesigned and re-engineered next-generation Focus features a number of first-in-class technologies, including Active Park Assist, Active City Stop, Blind Spot Information System and Active Grille Shutter that truly help set it apart from the competition,” said Yukontorn.

Ford will also continue its focus on further enhancing its customer service experience in Thailand in 2013, including the expansion of its nationwide dealer network to 140 locations by the end of the year.
